Laugh at Yourself

Quick Tip submitted by Tricia Z:

Sometimes we take things too seriously. My husband has a wonderful way of diffusing the situation by teasing me about it, or just cracking up at the ridiculousness of the topic. Something like, "that's right honey, I don't love you at all because you burnt my toast. I could only love someone who makes perfect toast every time!" This of course, catches my attention, I laugh too and we can discuss more calmly. It ratchets down the intensity of the conversation immediately.
