Pick Your Battles Wisely
Friday, March 26, 2010 at 11:46AM Quick Tip by Leila Drager, Married 17 Years
I always tell young lovers and newlyweds to "choose their battles wisely". Don't make every arguement or disagreement a fight or big deal - save it for issues that are truly important to you. If you argue all the time, the big issues may lose significance, because your spouse is probably thinking "here we go again". Let the little things go - it's not worth the arguement.
I also tell couples that each partner should be able to stand alone. Stay together because you want to be with each other - not because you feel you have to. This propogates a mutal respect for each other - knowing that each partner chooses to be with the other.

Its a beautiful and wise advice you give. It's so hard to step back if the other person is giving you attitude though. How does one get rid of short tempers?!
